40 mintue walk

So a while a go I went on a 40 minute walk with Anusha, Sarah , and Marcia. We walked about forty minutes in the heat and it was great. We had had tons of fun and it was a great experience to be sweating so much. We stopped at a park and just stayed in the sun as we relaxed. After that we went on another walk about ten to fifteen minutes around her neighborhood. It was svery peaceful even though we were yelling and laugh ting the whole time.

Final Portfolio Assessment "Report Card" Post- Active learning 2015

1.participation
In the participation category I have always shown up maybe missing one or two classes if I was away. I always have gym strip with me. I usually have extra as well. I usually like to get into the games. I learned that in this year I definitely tried a lot harder. I got more involved in the games and tried a lot harder on fitness days. Of course you're going to experience off days where its had to try your best and sometimes it gets in the way or getting better at something. I try very hard at games like speed ball where you have to run and get the balls because its something I enjoyed doing. I enjoyed almost everything we did this year even if they were brutal, they were just so we could find our comfort zone in our discomfort zone.

2.Social responsibility and contribution
When we set up a a game I do like to help with getting the equipments and to set up games. Usually when we set up games and we have members that we don't know we play little games to get to know everyone. We yell our names to let them know who we are. During games and fitness days I like to motivate people and til them how good they did while they were doing it. Even if we're on opposite teams. On fitness days I write what happened and what I experience. I stay true to what happened on those days because I can look back on them and see how much of a change I made within myself.

3.Healthy living
I worked hard on this part. I usually did 40 minute to hour long work outs and went for walks. I also ate way more fruits and drank way more water them before. My goal with all of this is to do better at anything than before. I used to not last running for long periods of time and her I am running longer than I thought I could have. At the end of the day with all the process that I've done I can be proud of it. I don't think I have too many posts of healthy living at home because I do the same things everyday. For school I started packing healthier lunches with more vegetables and having more nutritious breakfasts. I carried a water bottle anywhere I went outside of school. I had though during the workouts i did that it was just getting easier and the workouts didn't impact me as they did before. I actually was watching a show when a man had said when you work out some times you get used to it. That you need to intensify the workouts. Once I started doing this I was awaiting more and feeling more of a burn. Some days I would focus on things like stretching. And this was all so I could better my self.

4.Digital portfolio and reflective skills
On my blog I started of the year without posting as much as I should have. But I was able to gradually build up on it. I have pictures and I try to include what happened on those days. I had set goals on what I had wanted to archive and sometime I couldn't reach them but I tried. I knew I wasn't going to do perfect on my blog but I put more effort than I did pervious years. I included pictures and summeries of what I did after school. Sometimes people would comment on my blog telling me I should include more photos or I did a good job or things that would help me improve. I started adding more pictures and taking advice from people. They would say things like take it easy but not too easy. They had encouraged me to better myself. When I was commenting on other peoples blogs I was impressed at how well they were able to organize it and include all kinds of things. It made me want to start including things I though wouldn't matter like 10 minute walk. But it did for me because I was able to see that I put in effort to someone different then that past me. I have about a little over thirty posts on my blog and those are things I've done over the year that impress me. I can look back and be motivated to try and beat thoses scores.

I think for my percentage I would chose about 84%. I think so since I did try so much harder this year. I feel strong and I feel better than o have ever. I set a goal at the beginning of the year to find happiness in discomfort. To smile through the pain and to feel it the next day. When I'm done with something I usually like to say it wasnt that bad and its not. If you work hard and put effort and time you'll get results you might have never thought you would see. And that's what I discovered about my self. Mr. Neuf always said to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and that's something I agree because that can some many ways. It about stepping out and aiming higher than you thought you could.

Walk

   Today I went on a nice 15 minute walk with my dog. We just walk around the neighborhood. It was nice to get out and have some nice fresh air. It was good since it kind of gets you mind off of the provincials. Even though it was around eight to nine pm it was still kind of warm. The walk wasnt a run or 40 minute walk but its still great to get out and relax a little.

Modified Baseball

On our normal p.e. days we played modified baseball. The game got really interesting and difficult during times. Especially when the ball would travel way to far away. I did have a fear of the ball traveling into or near the road. Later on we found a kick ball and decided to try using that. The game got harder since we had to put mor effort into it to hit it. We also used a cricket bat instead of a baseball bat. It was heavy and kind of hard to use. That day was great even if it was sunny and we were sweating.

Yoga

  So about a week ago we did yoga for fitness and it was great. It didn't feel that long but it was worth it. I had tons of fun and I was able to test my flexibility limits. I got quite into it but I definitely had trouble on some parts for example the push ups. That means I have to focus on building more arm strength. But I modified the push ups to knee push ups for I could still continue. I now know that balance on my right foot is what need to work on too. My left foot is pretty steady but my right foot shakes and I usually have to drop my leg and start over again. The class was pretty fun and we built up a sweat.

Buddies #5

   On Friday we had buddies yet again and this time we played lacrosse. We all had to teach the buddies how to play and pass. We had to start a couple of times and we started out with just one ball but then we ended up using to balls. My buddy was on defence during the first few rounds and then we they decided to join the other team members out running after the ball. It was a fun day. We even encountered a frog during the game. We had to use of teaching skills by teaching our buddies the game without our own teacher. I had a really fun time though and we all encouraged everybody to join in a help each other out.

Lacrosse

    On Wednesday we played lacrosse with the girls from our band class and a few guys and well as more girls from other classes. The majority of the teams were made up of girls and let me tell you it was intense.we were scream and yelling and cheering. It was really fun though. We had gotten the game started without the teacher. We organized it and in the end we played pretty fairly we learned to cooperate and we practiced learning everyone's names as well.  I had a great time.

Buddies #4

   On Friday we had buddies again. It was really fun since we had to be the teachers again and show them the rules and get involved. My buddy wasn't there on Friday so Marcia let me tag along with her two buddies which was really nice of her. In the group we also had Sarah and her buddy. We played a different type of baseball where it was in a straight line. The game was really fun and since there wasn't enough younger buddies we decided to join in with them. Later on in the game we decided to create almost a mash up of baseball and field hockey. Instead of hitting the ball with the bat and later tossing the ball to everyone we just passed it with our sticks. The game was way more intense since sometimes it was difficult to hit the ball or it would travel far. In the end it was a really fun day to play and we had a great time.

Dodgeball

   On Monday we played dodgeball and it was nice since we hadn't played in so long. It was fun to see the team competing with each other. At one point in the game I was the last one standing and I had to get the ball into the hoop. I didn't which sucked. I wasn't at all prepared to live till the end. Before that we played a game involving pool noodles and dodge balls. That game was also quite fun. We ended the game with just playing bench ball.

Fitness

So today we were departed in to groups based on how high your beep test score was. In my group we all went at a pace that we knew we could got at. We decided to run two and walk two. I think we could have ran three and walked one though. My group was supportive with everyone. I'm happy to say that I never walked during the running portion. We were able to find a balance between moving quickly and got at a pace were we could live through the whole entire time. I think we ran about four laps maybe more maybe less. I don't really know.I wasn't counting. I'm proud of our group we put an effort and made it through.

Fitness

On Tuesday we had decided the would do something a little different. I don't remember what it was called but you had a partner that you would compete against. My partner was Marcia. We needed up doing the running portion first even though we didn't even plan on doing it first. The work out we did definitely made us sore the next day. That day was about pushing your self to someone else's limits to try the better you.you could see the sweat and red faces we all had and it was a great day. What I had enjoyed  about that fitness day was that fact that we all got to try something new for a minute and push you limits. Tuesday was a great fitness day. I also took a picture with Anusha of our sweaty faces.

Speedball

   Today during gym we played speedball. The game was really fun and competitive. Today I wanted to try but I know I didn't try as hard as I could. I was still tired at the end of the game. I still tried hard just not hard enough. I tried to cheer on our team when they had the ball or passed it. This game is just full of injuries. I was hit in the stomach with soccer ball. I think its important to motivate people when they do something, because they might feel more confident or round and really have fun out there. I think it was great that we able to play against the other band class. Had a fun gym class today.

Fatness

So today we had fitness and it involved having a partner running around the gym and one doing some sort of exercise. My partner was Anusha and my running buddy was Simran. We encourage each other to try theyre best. Occasionally we would bump into some friends while running for example Sarah and Janelle. During the exercises some were really tiring and hard. But we had to push through. We would work out with Sarah since we started and arrived around the same time. I'm happy since I actually really tried today during the workouts. And since running isn't my biggest strength I'm proud that I never walked once or stopped. Even if I was tried. Lately I've just wanted to do better for my over all health and have been trying a lot more. I also have some pictures. We were all tired and sweaty so we look gross. Our hands couldn't even hold my phone since they we shaking.

Buddies #3

Today we had buddies once again. We played the human form of rock paper scissors. First we placed normal rock paper scissors and then we taught them the human form one. At some points the game got really intense. Buddies would be running back and forth. The jumping. The battling against each other. After a while of playing this game we played octopus. If you got tagged then you still had a chance at another life since you would go against the person that tagged you and play rock paper scissors. If you won the you could make it to the other side. The game was really fun. After playing octopus we got a special performance from our buddies. They dance and it was awesome. They were amazing. I very much enjoyed that performance. I had an amazing day with our buddies today.

Dance Week

   Dance week was a while and I never made the blog post about it. during one of the days we did hip hop and it was fun but kind of fast. I really enjoyed that day since we had to work hard at improving ourselves and having fun as well. Sometimes it was difficult to learn certain dance moves since there was no dance instructor to helps us when we were lost. But in the end we all pulled through and tried our best. the whole experience was fun.

PARENT PROJECT MID-TERM


1)Yes read her blog. I am surprised that she puts effort into what she does. My favorite part was when they where pretending they where playing football and used a hair tie as a ball. No I did not learn anything from reading her blog. I reaffirm that she can be a good leader for a team. I think she should include the workout she does at home. I give her 23 out of 25, because she is able to prove all the work she does.


2)She drinks lots of water, eats lots of fruits and salads. She made the choices of eating smaller portion and making her own fruit smoothies. I encourage her to do walks and go to the park. Yes I did see evidences of her blog. Nothing  should be included. More activity should be included. Make her to join more activities. I am proud  of all the hard work she does to progress. I give her 25 out of 25 because I see she works hard.

Buddies #2

  A while a go we had buddy's and I forgot about making a blog post about it again. During the day we teamed up with other buddies to create teams. We played a game called chariots. We had played this with just our class but it was a fun experience with our buddies. Once in our groups we had hula hoops and a leader. For the game we were the teachers. To show the ropes to our buddies. It wasn't easy at first since sometimes they would let go, or run after someone else. My buddy was kind of shy to be the leader but we encouraged her to be brave and she ended up enjoying the experience. Those kids were fast out on the field. You would have to run after them to make sure they were okay. It wasn't easy as well when other groups started going after our team but we pulled through. And in the end it was fun class.

Fitness

   Yesterday we did fitness on a field. The walk and exercise was tiring but it was fun being able to work with a group and cheer everyone one. We were able to encourage others that if they try they can succeed. During fitness we didn't care if they ran a fast or slow,we cared that they tried. They were multiple things we had to do. We had to ran laps around the track, do a flexibly workout, a muscular workout and we got a rest. I had a lot of fun out there even if it was tiring.

Today during class we learnt a new game involving rope and later on we used blind folds. The game was interesting and kind of intense since in the beginning people were getting pushed and shoved and tackled. After things had calmed the game was pretty fun to play. You need communication and everyone had to work together to make it work. You had to work to get the other teams shirts and trying to protect your charioteer from other teams getting your teams shirts. The game got complicated and ruff but it was a fun and interesting experience to have.

Bear creek walk

During my spring break I went to bear creek with my family and went on a walk. We went in a sunny day and it was nice to be with nature. From time to time we went on a run while we were there. We ended up walking for almost forty minutes. Over all it was a fine day to go for a walk.

Buddys

         So a while ago we had buddy's. And I forgot to make a blog post about it. The buddy experience was pretty cool since I haven't had a buddy for a few years. We played dragon tail. My buddy was a fast runner. I learned that they had wanted to join track and field when it started. They had also told me that they were interested in marvel and had seen all the movies. At that moment I knew my buddy and I were gonna get along. I had a fun day with buddy. Hopefully we'll be able to play and introduce other activities with or to our buddies.

Bear creek park

So on march 9th my mom,sister and I went to bear creek for a run on the track. We had gone during the evening so it was a little bit chilly. It was fun since my family was running with me. My sister and I would race across the track. We ran for about fifteen minutes since it was getting dark. I took a picture.

Today we played a game similar to foot ball using a hair tie as the ball. The game was interesting and it was fun. It was nice that we got to play with the grade 8 and grade 9. The game between the 9s and 10s was intense and we had to be able to pass all the grade 9s to get the hair ties through the cones. The games its self was tiring since it was consent running either to get through the cone or to get the person with the hair tie. But it didn't feel very tiring just exciting. I really liked the game since it focuses on a startegy to think and act like your opponent. To be able to cross their cones and to not let the others cross your cones.

Active Learning- Refection

This year I told myself that I wanted to come prepared to improve my lifestyle and to improve my fitness in class. I have come prepared every class with fitness wear and i have tried to come with smile. I will usually like to participate in most sports, others I just can't enjoy. I probably just need to try harder and smile through. I like to participate more on fitness days, because at the beginning of the year I told myself that I wanted to try harder and be proud of the hard work I put into the year. I wanted to live a better life and enjoy it. I have those days during fitness or just a normal p.e. day where its just not the best whether i'm not feeling good, tired, or am just not up to. I would say I have struggled most with fitness for example: the hill run. Not my best. I want to start trying harder to make it better for me to enjoy fitness.

 I like to think that I can contribute to this class by cheering on teammates and trying to motivate them. I usually like to bring a cheerful attitude to this class since if you smile doing something then other people might smile too. I act kind and nicely to them them. Even if their in different class i believe that they still have a chance to be motivated by other class mates and friends. Helping others is also important maybe they aren't feeling the best and they want someone their to help them. You never really never know what someones feeling like until you help.

During fitness days I try really hard to push myself and my limits to farther than I've been . Last year in grade 9 I used to hate fitness since i didn't try hard to improve my self and enjoy the class. This year I pushed myself beyond limits and I have succeeded by doing so. That just makes all the better. I enjoy the triple threat. Other than that i don't really know which ones I enjoy the most. we do different things for fitness that I don't even remember what kind of activities we do. I do enjoy and activity that is played on the upper field where there are ten stations and we do running, rest, yoga and a ton of fun activities for one minute then we switch and more to the next station. I enjoy that one, but I don't remember what its called. I have that same goals for Fitness as i started the year with, but for a goal i have i would like to get to a a seven on the beep test by the end of the year because I'm kind of bad at the beep test and i would very much enjoy a higher core on the beep test. Also to work on my blog more during the second semester.

Leadership means to show a good example of your self, and to help and teach others. When  a leader motivates others you'll see a person acting in a habitat where they aren't bossing others around and being taller than the rest. it best to help others and teaching their ways to improve the lives of others. I feel as if everybody sees a leader in a different way. Friends can be good leaders to help you push your self and your limits. I would say people who put dedication into their blogs and in the gym. The people that you see trying hard to do their best in class.                

Improvements I want to make for the end of the year is top start making a blog post about fitness and and to remember. I have a bad memory so I need to be reminded or to do it right way after class. I would also like to get a seven on the beep test like before I said. I am proud of the fact that i improved on my beep test the we just did and that i have been able to last longer during things that we having been doing. Other than that I would like to keep improving myself and I know that some days aren't going to be the best I will have to keep going forward. I think maybe my letter grade would say is maybe about 80%.

Thriple threat

      Today we just did the triple threat. I feel proud because I tried really hard to do better than I did the last fitness class and I think I did. I was tired but I kept going at it.I could feel the sweat running down my face which I gross and hear the heavy breathing I was doing. It fun over all and there where definitely hard exercises that we where doing, but over all I enjoyed it.  We did three different exercises that involved the body, the mats, and weights. We stretched after the work outs and it felt good to strech. I had a fun workout and I'm happy with the way it went.

Capture The Flag

On Wednesday last week we played capture the flag and it was ninth graders vs tenths and eighths. I don't think anyone won that one but I was a fun game. I was really sore after a while of playing. I remember two days after on fitness day I was still sore. It was a good sore that can show you that you actually did try. I enjoyed the game. I was on defence but it was fun to chase after people to get them. Over all it was a fun day. Although I couldn't run across the line because honestly I'm just to afraid to even try. I know its bad but maybe next time. Anyways I enjoy getting to be defence you run and get more movement in trying to chase people. Its kind of boring too when no body runs to get the balls so you just stand there waiting. This day was fun and I enjoyed it.

Hill Run

So today we did the hill run and it wasn't easy. We felt as though we could have vomited. I was on my 6th lap when I felt as though I could have passed out. I couldn't see properly. But I feel as though I could have tried harder and I should have but it was if I had given up. Next time I should concentrate on my breathing and having a steady pace. I needed up running seven laps altogether. I did walk back and forth to help bring it down. During these laps we had to run up a steep hill and walk down the steep hill. But for me it was harder to walk down the hill then walking up the hill. I should bring water and try to keep my pace and hopefully next time I will succeed with my goal and actually make it the whole time.

Pond run

I just did the pond run. It was hard and tiring. I was running the first half with sarah. But then we drifted apart then I was running alone. I was trying to pace myself so I could last the whole minute. Along the way I started to feel it. I was tired and wasn't feeling that amazing. So I slowed down to get a better pace. I lasted the whole time and I was happy that I did. I think I slowed down to much because by the end I wasn't that tired. I am proud that I ran a whole minute even though half way I was tired and that I made it all the way. I was kind of glad I ran alone for the end because I feel as if I would slow someone down if we ran the same pace and sometimes I'm slower. So I made it and I ran at my own pace.
